Weston Boys Edge Masuk In Battle To The Finish

Weston's boys' basketball team won its third straight game, edging Masuk 63-60 on January 16.


Down eight points at half, the Trojans closed the gap in the third quarter and completed the comeback in the fourth.


The end of the game was filled with drama as the Trojans thought they won 62-59 after a missed free throw and a Masuk full court heave that missed. After an officials' meeting, Masuk was awarded a timeout and 4.6 seconds was put back on the clock. The teams exchanged one made free throw each in those final seconds.

John Jones scored 17 points, Josh Handel had 13, Alex Olsen and Micheal Stack both scored 10 and Evan Levine added eight for Weston.


Masuk was led by Jake Rosati with 25 points. Aren Cummings scored 13, Mateo Esmeraldo added 10 and Carson Swift tacked on nine.


Weston's next game is on the road against Stratford and Masuk hosts Immaculate — both on Tuesday, January 21, at 7 pm.
