The Pomperaug boys' basketball team beat host Notre Dame 71-55, overcoming a seven-point halftime deficit and 25-point effort from Max Mitchell, who made five 3-pointers, on January 17.
Dion Zhuta led the Pomperaug Panthers with 21 points, Specncer Dragone scored 15 and pulled down 14 rebounds, and Adam Opalka scored 14 in the win. The Lancers got 12 from Blake Macklin.
Bethel Boys Win
Bethel beat Wilcox Tech 53-24. Dylan Breeland and Michael Schmidt, who had 19 and 17 points, respectively, were excellent after a shaky start to the game for the Wildcats, Bethel Coach Matt Lisi said.
Bethel scored four points in the first quarter before dropping in 21 during the second stanza.
