Panther Girls Jump Out To Early Lead, Beat Barlow

Pomperaug's girls' basketball team improved to 6-1 with a 70-21 triumph at Barlow on January 9.

Alex Rafferty scored 13 points, Cara McGettigan had 12 points, Molly Flanagan dropped in eight points and had nine boards, Maddie Villa scored nine points, Jada Stietzel contributed eight points, and Marina Lambiase had six points, eight assists and seven steals.

The Panthers jumped out to an 11-0 lead and were ahead 19-12 after one quarter of play, and led 41-12 at the half.

Pomperaug used a high-intensity full-court press to create turnovers and had a mix of shots from inside and long range to seize control.

Up next is a potential challenge from defending conference champ Newtown (also 6-1), which visits on Tuesday, January 14 at 7 pm.
