The Notre Dame girls' basketball team overcome host Newtown for a 56-53 victory on January 23.
Notre Dame remains unbeaten and handed Newtown its first in-state loss of the season.
Yamani McCollough had 18 points and Nique Mayo scored 14 in the win. Cyleigh Wilson drained six 3-pointers and scored 20 for NHS which erased a 14-point deficit in the second half and led going to the fourth.
Taylor Gibbs broke a 52-52 tie with a pair of foul shots, including a front-end one and one with 34 seconds left. After a Shea Murphy made a Newtown free throw, with 10 seconds left, her second try rimmed out. Mayo sank a pair of foul shots, also making a clutch front-end one and one.
