The Notre Dame-Fairfield girls' hockey team Lancers traveled to West Hartford to take on the Hall/Conard co-op team on February 15 and saw its two-game win streak end in a 3-1 defeat. The Lancers got back into the win column their next time out, scoring a 4-1 triumph over Hamden on Senior Night, February 19, at The Rinks at Shelton.
In the loss, Leigha Howland scored a goal assisted by MacKenzie Broderick. Howland had both the tying and winning goals, with assists from Lexie Burwell, Sarah Casey and Charlotte Dworski in the win. The Lancers secured the victory with a goal from Broderick, assisted by Burwell and Casey. In the final minutes the Lancers had to kill a penalty and Casey was outstanding. She also found the empty net to score the fourth goal of the night.
The Lancers play Wilton February 21 in their final game of the regular season and are looking to secure a place in the state tournament. Notre Dame has already qualified for the SCC tournament. The Lancers travel to Hamden to play the Dragons Monday, February 24 at 4 pm.
