The counter-attacks, corner kicks, and shots on goal kept coming. Notre Dame-Fairfield goalkeeper Tia Pascarelli and the defense was there every time.
And now, the Lancers are in the state tournament semifinals. Seeded seventh in the Class M bracket, Notre Dame blanked No 18 Tolland 2-0 in the quarterfinals on November 16.
Toni Domingos and Jazmine Fred scored, and Pascarelli and the Lancer defense did the rest, compiling 15 saves.
The Lancers will face No. 3 Plainfield in the semifinals.
"It feels great since it's my first time getting past the quarterfinals," Pascarelli said. "It feels good. Everyone battled their hardest. Everyone played their hardest."
"Everyone did what they had to do," Fred added.
The winner of ND-Plainfield will take on either SWC team Weston (seeded fourth) or Granby (the top seed) in the championship game.
Plainfield defeated ND in penalty kicks in the state quarters last fall, then beat Weston in penalty kicks of the semifinal round.
"I'm really looking forward to it," Domingos said of the rematch with Plainfield.
