Immaculate Squad Truly A Cheerleading Family

Updated: Feb 12

They say team members become like family. In the case of Immaculate's cheer squad, much of it really is a family.

Head Coach Lisamarie Font has coached all four of her daughters in the Mustang program; Julia graduated in 2018 and her sisters, Isabella (Class of 2020), Gianna ('21) and Sophia ('23) are all current members of the team which competed in the February 7 SWC championships. Isabella, who plans to continue her cheerleading career at the collegiate level, earned All SWC First Team accolades; click here for link with the All Conference photo.

"It's really cool. It's brought the family together. Not a lot of families can say everybody does the same sport," said Julia, who was Immaculate's first All State cheerleader.

Coaching your own children must be tough at times, however, and Lisamarie said the hardest part of her role is keeping her cool with her daughters as she does with the other cheerleaders on the squad.

Of course, the entire team is a lot like family.

"The other cheerleaders are like an extension of my girls. I love what I do," Lisamarie said.

"It's been the highlight of my life," added the Immaculate coach, who cheered at New Fairfield High and picked up coaching back in 2008. She has coached all of her daughters in the All Star program.
