Immaculate Boys Look To Maintain Winning Streak

The Immaculate boys' basketball team carries a four-game winning streak (and 4-1 record) into a Saturday, January 11 home tilt with non-conference foe St. Bernard; tip set for 3 pm.

Coach Nelson Mingachos' Mustangs are coming off their most lopsided triumph of the season, a 60-32 win at Harding on January 6, and have scored 55 or more points in all of their wins.

Immaculate's early-season success includes winning the Candlewood Classic. In fact, the present and future both look bright with the freshman and JV teams also claiming tourney titles in the late-December event.

Sean Guiry leads the varsity group with 71 points and has grabbed 67 rebounds. Diego Echavarria has 65 points and 34 assist, Sebastian Parenti has 59 points, and Joey Rios 57 points and 53 rebounds to this point.

Of the team's 41 steals, Echavarria has nine and Parenti eight.

The Mustangs are home on January 13 with a rematch against New Milford; Immaculate beat New Milford 71-40 to claim the Candlewood Classic title in the first meeting between the SWC foes.

The Mustangs have won four straight, including capturing the Candlewood Classic tourney title.
