Host Pomperaug Gymnasts Stand Out At Invitational

The Pomperaug gymnastics team placed fourth with a team score of 128.200 at the Pomperaug Invitational on January 11.

Fairfield Warde won the event with a score of 134.450, Newtown was second with 130.150 and Fairfield Ludlowe came in third with 128.500. There were 11 teams in the competition.

Pomperaug placed second on the floor as a team.

Sara Myvold scored a 9.200 to place second on the vault, 8.65 on the bars, tied for fifth with an 8.4 on beam and was second with a 9 on the floor. Myvold was second in the all around with a score of 35.250.

Skylar Mugavin had an 8.35 on vault, 6.8 on bars and 7.8 on floor.

Alaina Karp finished with an 8.2 on the vault, 7.8 on bars, 8.6 for a third-place finish on beam and 8.7 for second on the floor, and finished fifth in the all around with a score of 33.300.

Jillian Golden had a 7.7 on vault, 6 on bars, 7.3 on beam and tied for sixth with an 8.4 on the floor.

Julia Markward had a 7.3 on beam.
