Masuk's girls' basketball team got contributions from throughout the roster in its first win of the campaign, a 37-27 victory over visiting New Milford on January 3.
Freshman Grace Yeager scored a career high 19 points and sophomore Kaitlyn Bodden had a career high 12 points. Senior captain Emily Lange played a great overall game and sophomore Claire Martinsky did a tremendous job defensively.
"The bench was into the game and everyone contributed and fulfilled their roles," Masuk Coach Michael Collins said.
"I thought the kids did a great job against a good team. The girls have been coming to every practice willing to work and be coached, and being led a phenomenal captain in Emily Lange. Because of that, we're seeing growth in both practice and in games," Collins added. "Unfortunately, we have had one bad quarter in four of our five losses. We finally put together four really good quarters of basketball. I couldn't be more proud of my kids. They are a pleasure to coach."
Masuk's girls are home to Pomperaug Monday, January 6 at 7 pm.
In case you missed it: Masuk's boys won at the buzzer in its most recent game, a win over Bassick. See video of the dramatic finish here. The boys are back in action when they host New Fairfield on Tuesday, January 7 at 7 pm.
