Boys' Soccer: Immaculate Advances, Pomperaug Falls After Thrilling PK Triumph

Immaculate's Connor Sahl and Tristan DiNatale scored in a 2-0 win over No. 23 Old Lyme in the Class S state tournament soccer quarterfinals on November 15. The No. 15 Mustangs will take on No. 3 Holy Cross in the semis.

In Class L, No. 12 Pomperaug beat No. 5 Fitch 2-1 (5-3 in penalty kicks) in the second round on November 13, then lost 3-1 to Hand in the quarters two days later.

In the Fitch game, Sean Murray scored in regulation. Eric Tolin, Ryan Karp, Andrew Doan, Jaden Hozer and Harrison McQuillan scored in PKs. Freshman, third-string goalkeeper Zack Ferran made one crucial save.

No. 15 Barlow had a wild first round finish, beating No. 18 Windsor 1-0 (8-6 in PKs). Barlow then blanked No. 2 Platt Tech 6-0 before falling 5-1 to No. 10 Wilton in the November 15 quarters.
