Shelton led 17-16 after one quarter of play. Masuk went ahead 36-30 at halftime and led 50-43 heading to the fourth.

Four of Masuk's fourth-quarter points came from Rosati at the foul line. Shelton was within a basket at 52-50 and threatened to tie. The Panthers got a key stop and Cummings scored down low after taking a pass from Swift to make it a two-possession game. Rosati sealed things at the foul line.

Masuk Coach Pete Szklarz said he is pleased with the 2-0 start as the team heads into the hardwood Classic hosted by Bassick of Bridgeport. Masuk plays Bunnell in the opener on Friday, December 27 at 4 pm and will play either Ridgefield or Bassick in the championship or consolation contest the next day.
